Demand for Expelling Ravenshaw VC And appointing a visionary Educationalist as VC
Introduction : This petition is about appointing a real qualified educationalist as VC of Revenshaw University, who understands the definition of “Quality Education” and University, glories of Odisha and know how to keep politics out of the University Campus. This is also about Rule of Law that must prevail in Educational Institutes.

Revered Sir,
We, the Ravenshavians, humbly draw your kind attention to save East Hostel and thereby by save the glorious literary and cultural heritage of Ravenshaw and Odisha from the hands of the devastating University authorities.
- It is a well-known fact that the historic West Hostel and East Hostel of Ravenshaw have created and shaped scores of dignitaries and illustrious personalities which brought pride and recognition to Ravenshaw and Odisha worldwide.
- The hostel magazines of West Hostel and East Hostel, ‘Urmi’ and ‘Jagaran’ respectively have been playing a seminal role in creating and shaping many poets, writers and scholars of twentieth century Odisha since the early 1920s. Eminent poets like Mayadhar Mansingh (first editor of Urmi) and many celebrated litterateurs of Odisha had been editors of these historic hostel magazines once upon a time during their stay in the hostels as boarders.
- The Glorious heritage of West Hostel has already been buried (in 2008). It may be learnt that ‘Urmi’ is not being published since the last two years. Now West Hostel is housing the residential Ravenshaw Management Centre (RMC).
- Last year when again, there was a conspiracy to do the same with East Hostel, to house residential self-financing Hotel Management department, all Ravenshavians stand united and opposed the authority and took the issue into the govt’s table.
- Finally after a discussion was made from all aspects and from all angles (including the issues of converting East Hostel into girls’ hostel to housing residential self-financing departments) in the Office Chamber of Hon’ able Minister, Higher education on 23.7.2009 in the presence of the Hon’ able higher education minister, VC, and students’ representatives of RU, the authority was given written order to complete the entire renovation work of East Hostel Of the University within-a-year and allow resurrection of it for general students. As per the govt’s order students staying in this hostel were shifted to another hostel.
- In spite of the govt’s order till now Hostel is not being permitted to stay. Sir we are facing severe problems in carrying our study smoothly as from last year we have been staying in another hostel with temporary adjustments.
- This year 60 new applicants also have been given admission into East Hostel. But now it seems everything is going to be shattered by the evil intension of our V.C. who thinks himself above the Govt.’s order. He again wants to convert East Hostel into some self-financing department and trying to obtain the same in the name of girls. He is spreading information in the air that he wants to convert into girls’ hostel due to the increase in the number of girl students. He intentionally directed superintendents of girls’ hostels to provoke the boarders to appeal to convert East Hostel into girls’ Hostel. While the boarders of the girls’ hostels are not in for of it, they are being threatened to do so.
- In the other hand, (if the authority really thinks for girls) there is no rationale for housing girls in East Hostel when there is neither dearth of land nor funds for setting up a new hostel building for girls. We are not opposed to increasing hostel for girl students , but converting boys’ hostels into girls’ hostel is not the solution to avoid rush on the existing ladies hostels as boys also grapple with inadequate hostel space.
- Sir, we the students of Ravenshaw University are in humble hunger strike w.e.f 18th August 2010. It will continue till the declaration of opening East Hostel for students and the announcement of roll back on the decision of VC to convert it into girls’ hostel.
- Sir, Ravenshaw University, Odisha, needs freedom from the hands of our current VC, who continuously disgracing Govt. Orders and who has been continuously ruining our educational environment for his personal interest/ benefit since his joining.

we have never seen vc inside campus in office hours since last 4 years.. No addequate book in library, scarcity in number of faculties and what to say you come and see Ravenshaw’s science labs……..
An idiot diplomat has no right to stay in Ravenshaw. Writing semi-adult poems and riunning a University, both are different thing
Please make VC as per the guidelines of UGC and if possible he should be an Alumni of it to have a good vision for his University

Bureaucrats have no proper idea about education and educational institution. So a wise and learned educationist should replace the present V C of the Century long institution, now University namely RAVENSHAW UNIVERSITY. The V C should relinquish his position at the earliest. It is the clarion call for the state authority to look into the matter as soon as possible.
As an ex-Ravenshavian he (THE V.C.) does not know about the glory and sanctity of the World famous INSTITUTION. He is not worthy enough to be the V.C. . It is better to resign from this post before the students push him away from the Varsity Office.
why the peoples are targeting only one not the others. there is something why they want to make him out .

I have seen Ravenshaw since my childhood…Today it feels my heart with pain unspeakable to see the present condition of the alma mater………..A man without proper vision has ruined the educational enviroment has made it his playground to satisfy his self………….

I will definitely agree the petition.
I am a Physics student from Ravenshaw. I was 2nd year BSc when it became University(2006). But the problems in Ravenshaw has been increased a lot as no permanent faculties are there in all departments. What the VC is doing? He is taking a handy salary perhaps. He could have drawn the attention the govt or just acting as an agent. These people have spoiled our careers and they play with the students future. Even they have closed all the Heritage boys hostels (East and West) for ordinary self-financing courses which has no value at all. And if there is no faculty at all then at least allow these talented students coming from village to stay in hostel for self study. What the idiot doing, just throwing these students into the street.
So govt should think about the alternative of VC and save the 150 years old Glourious Heritage from its endangered stage.
There is no question for disagreeing the petition.
Ravenshaw now in dangerousness situation. The VC has no vision at all and no knowledge how to run an University. Now Ravenahw could have been a Global platform for students for research, study and in all kind of activities. Also students from Ravenshaw can go to any University in abroad for higher study. But how many students are going abroad. Even there is no single faculty who has proper information to guide the students or to increase their knowledge. All the Hostels are being shut down for chief self-financing courses. Then where will those poor students coming from rural Odisha go?
So VC should leave his post voluntarily as he is not capable to think for further development of the University. And also govt should think alternative with a greater Political willingness.
it is an immense offense to ravenshaw making an I.S as V.C of a golden univ. ,who do not know the dignity of EDUCATION rather including politics very offensely .

I second the petition of expelling of VC, Ravenshaw University to uphold the proud of Odisha.;
Ravenshaw now in dangerousness situation. The VC has no vision at all and no knowledge how to run an University. The VC should go. There is point of his staying in such a heritage university. he should go and become an collector some where. The university never needs such an idiot.
These authorities are never good for students. They are shutting down all the Hostels for the sake of rich self-financing students. They are not doing anything to save the glorious institute as it was in past. Also VC is deliberately neglecting the general course teaching by virtue of which Ravenshaw had its glory.
The govt should appoint an truly visionary educationalists as VC of such institution.
